Everybody grinds their teeth differently - some grind their lightly and only at night, some grind and clench their teeth both during the day and night. This is why it's so important to properly match the material and thickness of the night guard with what you're experiencing. We have a carefully curated lineup of 5 main types of night guards to best suit you.

We're extremely proud of the material safety of our night guards. Through the years, we've tested possibly every type of night guard material to carefully curate what we think are the best and most advanced materials for a night guard. 

In fact, we go the extra mile (and cost), and directly source and import our materials from Germany. They're phthalate-free, BPA-free, latex-free, allergen-free. 

Depending on the type, our night guards are either a copolyester or TPU/EVA material, or a combination of both. The materials are both FDA approved and CE certified (according to European standards, which have higher consumer protection standards than those in the United States). 

Yes.

What most people don't know is that your dentist doesn't actually fabricate your night guard. They contract out to professional dental labs, like us, to make them. They then sell it to you at a premium, usually hundreds of dollars more. We're here to provide a new experience, a more convenient option, and all while saving you hundreds.

This is completely up to you, based on personal preference. 

Most of our customers prefer the upper guard as they find that it's less in the way of the tongue while sleeping or talking. Some of our customers opt for a lower guard if they've had dental work done (crowns, implants, etc), or if their dentist specifically recommends so.

The good news is that you only need one guard to protect against grinding, as one is enough to act as a protective barrier between both teeth. However, you may order both if your dentist recommended you do so.

This really depends. Everyone grinds their teeth differently so your night guard can last anywhere from 6 months to  5 years or more. All night guards will wear out eventually, but the most important factor in a lasting night guard is to properly match your grinding severity with the right type. 

We have 4 options  to choose from so you can best match your unique situation with the proper night guard. If you're unsure which to pick, give us a shout and we'll help make a recommendation.

Yes we can. We're a full service dental lab so we're able to customize your night guard in a variety of ways. For example, increasing or decreasing the thickness, or even using special materials. If you think you need something different from what you see, just get in touch and most likely we can customize something for you.

We understand it can be difficult to know exactly if you'll like the night guard type you choose, especially if this is your first time at the rodeo. If you find that you don't like the one you chose, we're happy to exchange it and remake another version of your choosing for a small fee of $40, just to cover the material costs and shipping, as long as it's within 30 days of you receiving the original. Just get in touch with us if you'd like to do so!

The Process

1. Choose your night guard and we'll send you a custom impression kit with everything you need to take a mold of your teeth from the comfort of home

2. Send it back to us in the pre-paid mailer

3. We'll create your custom night guard and you'll have it on your front door within a week and half

Did you know that your dentist doesn't actually make your night guards? They take your impression, then contract out to a dental lab (like us) for them to make it. The dental lab then sells it to the dentist for a premium, then sells it to you for another premium (usually $300+ in markup).

With us, you're buying directly from the dental lab. This means we get to shave off all the middleman pricing, profit sharing between the lab and dentist, and any overhead costs. The result is the same product, at a much lower price since it's direct to consumer.

Assuming your impression comes out great on the first try, it would take approximately 2.5 weeks or so from the time you place your order to having your custom night guard arrive on your doorstep. Here's how everything breaks down:

  • You should receive your impression kit in about 3-4 business days
  • Assuming you made a great impression and sent it in right away, it'll take another 3-4 business days to reach us. 
  • We generally can turnaround your night guard within 3-4 business days, and you should receive it in another 3-4 business days

If you want to speed things up, here are a couple of options:

  • To receive your kit or night guard faster - select any of the upgraded shipping options at checkout
  • To expedite production of your night guard - choose the "Fast Track" expedited option in the popup in the cart before checkout. For $25, this will put you ahead of the line and guarantee a 24 hour completion time of your night guard

Our Fast Track option guarantees that once we receive your impression in the lab, it'll be bumped ahead in line and will be completed and shipped within 24 hours.

If you ordered in the past 2 years, we have your impression on file. Simply login to your account or activate your account using the same email you used to purchase. From your account dashboard, click on "Orders", then choose between "Order again" or "order a different type." In the account, you'll also be able to see when your impression was received.

Impression Process

Don't worry, we understand the process can be a bit tricky. 

If you're concerned you messed up the impression, please send us some pictures for us to take a look. We'll evaluate it and send a replacement set out to you at no charge if needed.

Otherwise, below are some helpful reminders for the process:

Prior to the Impression

Make sure your teeth are clean and dry

Make sure to mix the putty together quickly, but thoroughly. There should be no streaks of the two colors, just one solid purple color

 

During the Impression 

Center the teeth in the middle of the tray, and push evenly, firmly, and deeply and firmly. Make sure the teeth go past your gum line. 

Most customers miss the rear molars, please make sure you push deeply in this area as well

Once in place, please stay very still so as not to distort the putty before it hardens


After the Impression

Verify the putty is hardened before removing (you can poke the putty to get a feel)

Once it's hardened, gently pull it out (you may rock it gently for easier removal only if you need to)

Ordering, Shipping, Returns

We have a 100 days,  100% guarantee. If you don't like the fit of your custom made night guard within 100 days, we'll work with you via an adjustment or replacement at no charge to you, shipping included. If you're ultimately not satisfied for any reason, we'll offer a full refund, minus the return shipping fee. 

If you haven't opened the sealed impression kit and opt for a return, you can return the kit back to us for a refund. Due to health precautions, if you have removed the outer sealed purple bag from the kit or have used the kit materials and opt for a return, your order is still eligible for a refund, minus the cost of the impression kit materials and shipping.

If you ordered the Sonic Cleaner, it’s eligible for return within 60 days of your order. 

Nope. 3-way shipping is completely free in the US. The 3 legs of shipping include: 1 - sending the kit to you, 2 - sending the impression of your teeth back to us, and 3 - sending out your final night guard. If you mess up on the impression the first try, we'll also cover the shipping and material cost to get you an additional set of materials, all at no charge.

We do charge shipping for our Canadian customers and also only charge tax if you're located in California.

Typically no. While this would be helpful and shorten the amount of time, we don't like to take shortcuts and potentially sacrifice quality. We typically prefer you go through our process as it would allow us to ensure your impression is accurate and guarantee a night guard that fits well. However, if you'd like to and you know the impression is accurate, just email us after your order and we can send a prepaid label for you to send in your existing impression.

Yes we do!

Free shipping only applies to domestic orders in the USA. For shipping to Canada, you'll have the option of a Standard or Expedited option, which includes all 3 legs of shipping as well as customs/duties. The exact amount for each option will be presented to you at checkout based on your location.

If you need to change your address for your order, whether for your impression kit or your final night guard, reach out to us at hello@chomperlabs.com and we'd be happy to make that change for you!

Please let us know as soon as you know a change is needed so we can process it for you before your package ships.

Our products qualify as medical products, making them fully eligible for FSA or HSA. You can pay directly with your FSA/HSA card at checkout.

We don't accept insurance directly but we've had many customers successfully submit a receipt for reimbursement. Of course, eligibility depends on your specific policy and plan but we're happy to provide a detailed invoice to help this along. 

You can download your itemized invoice directly from your account. From your account dashboard go to your orders, click the drop down arrow on then left, then scroll down to click the link and download a PDF of your itemized invoice.

Night Guard Help

Great question. We recommend that you:

DO

Always brush and floss before wearing the night guard

Rinse and/or lightly brush the night guard in lukewarm water and let it air dry after wear

Occasionally clean and soak the night guard with mild, unscented soap or denture cleaner

DO NOT

Use toothpaste or undiluted mouthwash to clean the night guard

Soak in hot water - this can potentially distort the night guard

Since your night guard is taking on the forces of your jaw muscles, it's natural that there comes a time in every night guard's life that it needs to be replaced. 

Seeing some wear on your night guard is normal and means it's doing its job to take on damage that would otherwise be on your teeth. But if you're noticing holes, large cracks, or the material is splitting, it's time to get a new night guard. Another potential sign that your night guard needs replacing is if the fit is starting to change or loosen significantly. 

If you're a returning customer and it's time for your night guard to be replaced, you're eligible for a $20 discount on night guards using your existing impression. Just login to your account, go to your orders, then click to "order again" or "order a different type".

Since our night guards are custom made exactly to the contours of your teeth and accurate to a tenth of a millimeter, they can sometimes feel fairly snug upon first wear. Like a good pair of shoes, they'll "break in" after a few days of wear once the material adapts to your teeth more and your teeth get used to it. However, If there's significant active discomfort or pain, please discontinue wear and get in touch with us.

Not to worry, just get in touch with us. We'll double check your impression for accuracy and advise on next steps to get it adjusted or replaced under our Perfect Fit Promise.

Don't worry, it's normal. All of our night guards are trimmed about halfway on the exterior side as is standard practice. This is intentional and primarily for ease of removal and comfort. As long as the night guard is what's coming in contact between your lower and upper teeth, it's doing its job in protecting your teeth. We analyze every impression on a case by case basis and based on your night guard choice and thickness, we adjust the height accordingly.

Our sweet furry friends...we can't help but love them even when they think our night guards are a chew toy. Don't worry, we've got you covered! 

If your dog chomps through your night guard within 6 months of you receiving it, we'll give you a discount on a replacement. We understand it can be difficult to know exactly if you'll like the night guard type you choose, especially if this is your first time at the rodeo. If you'd like a different type, we're happy to remake another version for you for a small fee of $40, just to cover our lab costs and shipping. The Sonic Cleaner

The Sonic Cleaner is perfect for your night guard, retainer, aligner, sports guard, or mouth gadgets of any kind. As a bonus, use it for a surprisingly sparkly and effective clean for jewelry, watches, glasses, razers, even toothbrush heads.

To clean the stainless steel interior, we recommend wiping it with a damp towel and then drying it with a dry towel. Don’t rinse the unit under running water and always unplug it before cleaning.

If you aren’t happy with your Sonic Cleaner for any reason, it’s eligible for return within 60 days of your order. Just reach out to us at hello@chomperlabs.com and we’ll help get the return process started for you.

If there’s a technical issue with the function of your Sonic Cleaner within 6 months of purchase, we’ll send you a new one free of charge. Contact us at hello@chomperlabs.com and we’ll be happy to help you out!

Please note that the warranty only applies to a technical issue with the Sonic Cleaner unit and does not apply to issues caused by misuse (ie. not following guidelines for use included in the instruction manual).

Returning Customers

We love to hear it! A lot of our customers purchase a second, third or more to have for travel, or simply to try a different type. We're happy to offer a $20 discount on additional night guards using your existing impression. 

The good news is we keep your impression on file for up to 2 years so you won't have to go through the impression process again. 

Simply login to your account, or activate your account using the same email address you used to purchase. From your account dashboard, click "reorder" to order again and get your discount. 

We keep your impression on file for 2 years. To see when your impression was received, just go to your account dashboard and click on your Impressions Profile.

Things change, we get it! If you've had dental work done or there's been another change to your teeth, you'll need a new impression. From your account dashboard, go to your orders and click to "order again" or "order a different type". We'll ask if we can reuse your impression and if the answer is no, we'll ship out a new impression kit to you.

Not a problem. After logging in to your account dashboard, just click "Reorder". You'll be able to select your night guard type and it will be added to your cart, along with a $20 discount if we'll be reusing your existing impression.
