The Ultra Thin Night Guard is recommended for folks who grind or clench their teeth during the day. It's our thinnest guard (about 0.8mm in thickness), and is designed to be less noticeable and allow you to speak normally. The thin yet hard and rigid material offers plenty of protection and is perfect if you often catch yourself grinding or clenching during the day.
Let's talk material science. Through the years, we've tested nearly every possible type of night guard material to carefully curate what we think are the safest and most advanced materials worthy of being in your mouth for hours on end.
In fact, we go the extra mile (and cost), to source and import our materials from Germany since EU consumer and product safety standards are higher there than in the US.

We start by 3D scanning your impression - accurate to 4 microns - carefully mapping out your dentition for the best fit. Our certified lab technician then skillfully fabricates your night guard by hand. We consider every facet, contour every edge, and polish every surface. Oh, and we do this all right at home in California (not in an outsourced factory somewhere - ahem we won't name names).
So, it's both art and science. The best of old school craftsmanship and new school innovation.
Great question! This is really up to you, and mostly a matter of personal preference.
Most people find the Upper night guard to be slightly more comfortable since it's less in the way of the tongue. For a better fit, we also recommend choosing the set of teeth that is straighter or has had less dental work done.
You can generally expect your custom made night guard to land on your doorstep about a week or so after we receive your impression.
As it's hand made, we take about 2-3 business days to create your night guard and another 3-4 days for shipping. Shipping is free all 3 ways but if you'd like to speed things up, there are faster shipping options at checkout or you can take advantage of the Fast Track option, where we can turnaround your night guard within 24 hours. Please expect minor delays during peak holiday times.
Great question, but tricky to answer. This really depends on how heavily you grind or clench your teeth and which night guard you choose.
Depending on your level of grinding, your night guard can last anywhere from 4 months to as long as 4+ years. That's why it's important to choose the best version of the night guard to properly match your grinding or clenching. As an extra guarantee, if your night guard does wear out within 6 months, the replacement is on us!
I bought this mouth guard when I had lost my much more expensive dentist issued piece. Before the ChomperLabs order arrived, I found the other mouthguard but figured it wouldn't hurt to have an extra on hand just in case another instance occurred where the expensive dentist issued piece was lost. As it turns out, I like the ChomperLabs guard MUCH better and it is now my primary piece while the more expensive piece from my dentist is the "extra" guard. It is comfortable to wear while both sleeping and being active during the day.
United StatesI don't have a chomper night guard. The wrong item was sent to me and the contact person said that the pieces are interchangeable. I want a bottom guard, smaller than the "small" one in the original shipment. I was sent one for the top teeth. I think her name was Allison, said they're both the same. But this one has no room for my tongue.

United StatesI ordered the thinnest guard for daytime wear since I unconsciously bite my cheek and lips (a BFRM- body focused repetitive movement- like nail biting) and it’s helped a ton! I’m unable to bite my cheek when the guard is on, so it’s doing its job!
United StatesMy dentist recommended a daytime mouthguard because I clench my teeth a lot. My insurance wouldn't cover it and I was quoted $900 for top and bottom from the dentist. Chomper did a single upper guard for 1/6 the cost. I ordered the ultrathin dayguard but I was worried that it would still be too bulky and visible and I wouldn't actually wear it. But I've been completely impressed! It's thin and comfortable, fits well, and is essentially invisible and unnoticeable. No problems talking either. Th whole process took about a month or so before I had the finished product in hand, in part because I requested a second try at creating a mold and in part because it took extra time on their end for some reason, but the product was worth the wait! I'm very happy with this purchase.

United StatesI have pretty severe teeth grinding but the night guard I got from my dentist was uncomfortable so I would end up taking it out at night or just not wearing it. It got to the point that I cracked a tooth and my dentist told me to get serious about wearing the night guard. She offered a hybrid model that I could not afford. I started looking around online to see how much they generally are and discovered you can buy them directly from labs at much cheaper prices. Who knew? Chomper has excellent customer service. I wasn't sure about the first imprint I did since I used the smaller size, and sent a picture. They said it was useable but I wanted perfection so they sent me another putty kit so I could use the larger one (the right size), which came right away. I now have a very comfortable night guard and a day guard for much less than what the dentist wanted for just a night guard. I am very happy.

The whole process was a lot easier than I expected - I wasn't sure if I did an OK job with the impression, but I sent a picture of it and it was fine! Excellent product, and great customer service.
